The Senate and the House of Representatives continue to negotiate funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Disagreement over immigration policies led to a short-term funding extension for the department which will expire Friday. Senate Majority Leader John Thune suggested staying in session rather than taking the usual recess for President’s Day and the Munich Security Conference.

The House Foreign Affairs Africa Subcommittee, chaired by Representative Chris Smith of New Jersey, is holding a hearing on the peace deal between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The panel is examining the role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in facilitating the Washington Accords for Peace and Prosperity.
The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee’s Subcommittee on Disaster Management, District of Columbia, and Census, chaired by Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri, is investigating fraud and foreign influence in state and federal programs.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for members of Congress as they negotiate homeland security funding.
- For senators and representatives as they hold hearings and investigations into NGOs and the potential for foreign interference in federal and state programs.
- For President Trump and officials in his adminstration to seek God’s guidance as they craft foreign and domestic policies.
